LCRN has developed partnerships within the housing sector to divert bulky items – such as furniture, white goods etc. – from the usual waste stream, and get more of them re-used or recycled.
Specific elements that we are currently delivering include:
Promotion – Tenants are made aware of local re-use initiatives and organisations in their community through leaflets, posters , newsletter copy and local events.
Referrals – Tenants are offered vouchers to redeem against low cost furniture, appliances and/or paint.
Collections – Full or partial voids clearances where reuse and recycling is maximised, reducing waste to landfill and therefore your landfill tax budget.
Fit-Outs – Un-furnished properties can be fitted out with single appliances to complete living arrangements using warrantied, reused goods at the fraction of the cost of new items. Housing Associations can choose one, all ,or any combination of the services on offer.
Employment and Training – Re-use organisations can provide standardised accredited volunteer training to support people in getting back to work.
